Second Project Meeting Lithuania January 2017

Second Project Meeting Lithuania January 2017

This is a report on the second meeting of partners in our 2-year European Erasmus+ Unity in Diversity project that began last September, whose aim is to enhance the language skills of those preparing for a career in the Hotel, Catering, Tourism and Hospitality sectors.

This meeting was held in the lovely Lithuanian capital, Vilnius. It was attended by colleagues from each of the nine partner institutions:

Tourism & Catering School Dubrovnik (Croatia), Turiba University (Latvia), Ekonomska šola Murska Sobota (Slovenia), IPSSA Nino Bergese (Italy), Universitatea Sapientia din Cluj-Napoca (Romania), Prirmrose Publishing (UK).

The three new partners are: Vilniaus Verslo Kolegija, Vilnius (Lithuania);  Vyšší odborná škola, Střední průmyslová škola a Obchodní akademie ,Čáslav (Czech Rebublic);  Kütahya İl Milli Eğitim Müdürlüğü, Kütahya (Turkey)

Good progress was reported on the work already undertaken, and preparations agreed for the further work to be carried out over the coming months.  Much new teaching material is already up-and-running on the project platform, and the 4 smartphone apps are now completed with the previous 12 languages now increased to 16.

Lively discussions were held on many subjects, not least the case studies which were causing serious problems because many of the subjects chosen by different partners were downloaded from the Internet with the result that much of the language was not the most elegant nor of the highest standard.

It was agreed that the next meeting of project partners would take place in Riga at the end of April.

The visit was rounded off on the Saturday morning by a guided tour of the beautiful Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania.

Some of the new materials have already been tried out with students and have been well-received.

In the original project I was responsible for everything in Spanish and Greek and much in English, but In the new project, mainly Greek and English. In both projects I have been responsible for creating the digital maps and the smartphone apps.

If you would like to access the project platform, here is the link:

For some of the material you will need a username and password. Let me know if you would like me to arrange this for you.

If you would like to try the apps and the digital maps, you can download them from my web-site. Here are the links:

To see these texts in any of the 12 languages, click on the blue link above the map. The 4 new languages are now being added.

Digitalmaps.ppt is a Powerpoint presentation of the 3 digital maps. it is attached. Simply click on it to open it. If it fails to open, save it, then click the saved file.
